What should I look for when selecting a retirement community?

Each one of us has different needs and interests. Start by identifying what is important to you. Whether location, lifestyle, amenities or value are important to you, Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club offers something for everyone.

Is Spruce Creek Country Club a gated community?

Yes, Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club is a 24-hour gated community with 12-hour community patrol.

How is SCG&CC governed?

We are a self-governing not-for-profit organization chartered under the laws of the state of Florida. Our governing documents (Bylaws and Covenants) are public documents on file with the state. Our homeowner’s association consists of all owners of residences within the community. The membership elects a seven-member Board of Directors which acts as a governing town council.

Who owns the recreational facilities?

The Horizon Clubhouse, Fitness Center and all community common areas are owned by the Homeowners Association. These properties have been deeded to the Association by Del Webb, and are free and clear of any liens, mortgages or encumbrances.

Who manages the community?

Daily operations of the community and management of all facilities are under the supervision of a highly rated management company hired by the HOA.

How much are the homeowner fees?

The Community Association’s regular assessment fee is currently $184.00 per month per household. This allows residents to use the Horizon Club and all other recreational facilities including the Fitness Center. It also covers maintenance of the community common areas, including private streets and sidewalks; trash collection and the 24-hour manned entry gates.

Will I pay a special assessment commonly known as a Community Development District Bond?

No. Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club does not have by any such tax or assessment.

What recreational facilities do you have?

The Horizon Club is our 32,000 square foot community center that contains a beautiful, fully staged ballroom, billiards room, card rooms, and craft room. Additionally, we have a separate Fitness Center containing an indoor lap pool and up to date equipment supported by a full-time director and staff. Our outdoor facilities are second to none: two large heated pools with spas, horseshoe pits, softball field, lighted pickleball, tennis and bocce courts. Additionally, you will enjoy quiet walks on the trail in our American Kestrel Preserve and picnics with friends and neighbors on the lanai at the Horizon Center or the Pavilion adjacent to the Fitness Center.

Does Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club have a restaurant?

Our Homeowner’s Association does not own or operate a restaurant. However, there is an on-site restaurant. The Toppers Tavern Restaurant is located with the Eagle Ridge Pro Shop and adjacent to the Horizon Club.

How many golf courses are there in the community?

Located within Spruce Creek Country Golf Club are 36-holes of multi-tee championship golf designed by Terry Doss. The Eagle Ridge Pro Shop is fully staffed and is ready to take care of all of your golfing needs. While it is an essential element of the lifestyle of our community, Eagle Ridge is neither owned nor operated by the Homeowner’s Association.

Is there an initiation or membership fee to join the golf club, and what are the golf fees?

There are no initiation or membership fees to play golf at Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club. Our golf course has several programs available, whether you’re an avid golfer or someone who plays less frequently. Rate information is available at the Pro Shop.

Is there an activities program?

Clubs and activities are served by a full-time activities director, and there are over 60 established clubs. In addition, a variety of classes and activities enables everyone to choose a level of involvement that suits their personal lifestyle.

Is there any RV storage available?

Yes. Spruce Creek Country Club has its own RV storage facility located within the gates of the community. This facility may also be used for boats, campers, etc. There are also privately owned storage facilities conveniently located nearby.

What about medical facilities?

A Marion County Fire Rescue Station is located within two miles of the front gate of Spruce Creek Golf & Country Club.

There are numerous medical facilities throughout the county. Among the facilities in Ocala are the Munroe Regional Medical Center, the Ocala Heart Institute, the Ocala Regional Medical Center and the Summerfield ER right out the front gate. Further north, is Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville (University of Florida) and the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.  To our south, The Villages Hospital is located within minutes of the community.

A Veterans Health System Outpatient Clinic is conveniently located nearby.
